hype: chanel slingbacks

The ultra classic Chanel two-toned slingback shoe is probably on many girls wishlist at the moment. The classic Chanel shoe that Karl Lagerfeldt represented last year has made a major comeback and there's already a waiting list if you want to be the lucky one to own a pair. So what is the hype about?

Chanel's two-tone shoe originally dates back to 1957 when Gabrielle Chanel designed the style, which she declared to be "the height of elegance." The press instantly (and appropriately) dubbed it "the New Cinderella Slipper," and celebrities like Catherine Deneuve, Romy Schneider, and Bridgette Bardot instantly were seen wearing them.

Madame Chanel chose the nude/black combo for a reason: the nude color is intended to lengthen the leg while the black capped toe shortens your foot. And our favorite slingback style? Well that was designed for the busy women (like ourselves) who needed freedom of movement.

Both Miroslava Duma, The Manrepeller and Look de Pernille among other fashion editors and fashion specialists are seen wearing the shoe comfortable enough to wear during the day and elegant enough to wear out at night.

The Classic Chanel slingback, a collectors item if you ask me, and another great example of the 'casformal' trend - the mix of casual/classic and formal relative to what you wear with them.
